My name is Dan Butzer and my wife’s name is Sandy. I have two children, Lisa Patterson and Aaron Butzer and five grandchildren, Steve Indorf, AJ Butzer, Elsa Butzer, Kyle Nester and Madison Nester. I also have a great granddaughter, Rylan Indorf.
Upon graduation from Smithville High School I started working for a union sheet metal shop. The following three years I attended Canton McKinley Trade School to become a journeyman sheet metal worker.
During my first years of sheet metal I installed spouting, standing seam copper roofs and chimney flashings. Over the years I progressed to installing furnaces and air conditioning systems and finally got a chance to start designing and fabricating systems. I worked for several different sheet metal shops where I hone my fabrication and design skills.
I worked evenings for many years as Director of Event Security at The Coliseum in Richfield and continued with the same title at the newly built Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio until the spring of 1995.
Finally in April 1995 I opened my own shop, Daniel’s Heating and Cooling. I had just a couple of workers then and one of them was my son, Aaron.
It stayed that way for several years and finally I had to step away for a while. I sold the business to Aaron and he took it and made it into what it is today, Aire Serv of Wooster & Strongsville. A couple of years had past and I got a chance to go to work for Aaron. The rest is history. I am 73 now and working full time for him designing and fabricating while maintaining the warehouse and shop. I have been in the sheet metal trade for over 50 years and now Aaron wants me to teach the guys some fabrication skills and installation techniques whenever possible.
Today my hobbies are restoration and re-purposing of antiques and designing one of a kind lighting for homes. I also enjoy raising honey bees and processing honey from the hives.
