What size heat pump does my home need?

The right heat pump size depends on your home's square footage, insulation, windows, ceiling height, and sun exposure. Aire Serv of Chattanooga North evaluates heat gain and heat loss during a free in-person estimate to determine the correct capacity. Proper sizing prevents short cycling and helps the system control humidity during hot, sticky summers.

How long does heat pump installation take?

Heat pump installation usually takes one to two days. A straightforward replacement of a similar system is often finished in a day, while new installations or jobs requiring ductwork, electrical upgrades, or new refrigerant lines take longer. Your service professional confirms the timeline during your free in-person estimate.

Can a heat pump heat my home in a Chattanooga winter?

A modern heat pump can heat a home efficiently through a typical Chattanooga winter, which is generally mild with periodic cold snaps. During the coldest stretches, many systems rely on backup electric heat strips or a furnace to maintain comfort. Your service professional can recommend a heat pump and backup setup that match your home.

How do I know if I should repair or replace my heat pump?

Replacing a heat pump makes sense when it is 10 to 15 years old, needs repairs more than once in two years, or no longer keeps your home comfortable. One rule of thumb multiplies the system's age by the repair cost; if the result exceeds $5,000, replacement is often the better investment. A newer system with an isolated problem is usually worth repairing.

Is a heat pump more efficient than a furnace?

A heat pump is often more efficient than a furnace because it moves heat rather than generating it by burning fuel or using electric resistance. In mild-winter climates like Chattanooga's, that efficiency can lower heating costs while the same system provides air conditioning in summer. The best choice depends on your home, fuel availability, and comfort goals.

A Smarter Way to Replace Your Heat Pump in Chattanooga

Accurate sizing, flexible payment options, and work you can trust.

A free in-person estimate from Aire Serv of Chattanooga North starts with an evaluation of your home's heat gain and heat loss, insulation, and existing ductwork. That evaluation determines the right capacity for your new heat pump. An oversized unit short-cycles and struggles to remove humidity, while an undersized one runs constantly on cold mornings. Getting the size right is the foundation of a heat pump that keeps your home comfortable and your electric bills in check. Estimate visits are available 7 days a week, and calls are answered 24/7.
A heat pump replacement is a significant expense, especially when the old system fails without warning. Financing is available so you can install a new heat pump now and pay over time. We also offer discounts for seniors, military members, veterans, first responders, and teachers, and your service professional can explain any current local offers. Every installation is quoted upfront by the job, so the final price won't change once you approve it.
Heat pump installations from Aire Serv of Chattanooga North are completed by licensed, expertly trained, and background-checked service professionals, and the business is fully insured. We offer warranties, and the work is backed by the Neighborly Done Right Promise®, which ensures your satisfaction. Because we're locally owned and operated in Hixson, the same team that installs your system can handle its maintenance and any future repairs.

How We Install a New Heat Pump

Heat pump installation with Aire Serv of Chattanooga North begins with confirming the system size and reviewing any ductwork, electrical, or refrigerant line changes your home needs. On installation day, your service professional removes the old equipment, sets the new outdoor unit on a level pad, and installs or connects the indoor air handler. Refrigerant lines are connected and checked for leaks, and the system is charged to manufacturer specifications. The technician then secures electrical connections, sets up the thermostat, and tests the heat pump in both heating and cooling modes, including the defrost cycle. Most replacements take one to two days, depending on the scope. Before leaving, we walk you through thermostat settings and filter care so your new system performs well through Chattanooga's humid summers and cool winters.
