How Long Does a Furnace Last in Florida?

A furnace in Florida often lasts 15 to 20 years or longer because it runs far fewer hours than furnaces in colder states. Age is not the only factor, though. Rust, a cracked heat exchanger, failed ignition components, and repeated repairs can signal the end of a furnace's service life well before 20 years.

What Are the Signs I Need a New Furnace?

You likely need a new furnace when it is more than 15 years old and needs frequent repairs, produces uneven heat, or shows rust and corrosion on the cabinet or burners. A cracked heat exchanger on a gas furnace is a safety concern that usually calls for replacement. Rising energy bills and a furnace that struggles during cold snaps are also common signs.

Should I Choose a Gas or Electric Furnace?

The choice between a gas and electric furnace depends mainly on whether your home has natural gas or propane service and how you want to balance upfront and operating costs. Gas furnaces heat quickly and often cost less to run, while electric furnaces cost less to install and need no venting. Many Central Florida homeowners also consider a heat pump, which heats and cools in one system.

Is a Cracked Heat Exchanger Dangerous?

A cracked heat exchanger is dangerous because it can allow carbon monoxide to leak into the air circulating through your home. Warning signs include a yellow or flickering burner flame, soot around the furnace, and headaches or nausea when the heat is running. If you suspect a problem, turn the furnace off, confirm your carbon monoxide detectors work, and schedule an inspection.

Furnace Replacement Made Easier in The Villages

Straight answers on sizing, cost, and payment before you commit to a new system.

Furnace replacement estimates from Aire Serv of The Villages are free and completed at your home. Your technician inspects the existing furnace, venting, and ductwork and performs a heat gain and heat loss evaluation to confirm the correct size. That step matters in The Villages, where a furnace sized for a colder climate would short cycle and waste energy on mild winter days. The same visit also reveals whether your existing ductwork and venting can be reused, which affects the final installed price.
Financing is available on new furnace installations, letting you replace an unreliable heater without waiting for the next budget cycle. Local special offers on new systems are available, and service discounts apply for seniors, veterans, military members, first responders, and teachers. We review every payment option during your free estimate so you can compare them clearly. Seeing the full installed price and your payment options together makes it easier to compare furnace models and efficiency levels.
Not every older furnace needs to be replaced. When a repair makes more financial sense, your technician will tell you, and the $99 diagnostic fee is waived when you approve that repair. Same-day service is available, calls are answered 24/7, and every installation is backed by a warranty and the Neighborly Done Right Promise®. We are a fully insured, locally owned business, and we install and service all major furnace brands.

What Happens During Furnace Installation in The Villages

Furnace installation with Aire Serv of The Villages starts with a detailed evaluation of your current heating system, ductwork, and venting, followed by an upfront price for the job. On installation day, your technician protects floors and work areas, shuts off power and gas where applicable, and removes the old furnace. The new unit is set in place and connected to the existing ductwork, with adjustments made where the plenum or transitions need to change. Gas furnaces receive new gas connections that are leak tested and venting that is checked for proper draft, while electric furnaces are wired to a correctly sized circuit and breaker. Your technician then starts the system, measures temperature rise and airflow, and confirms every safety control shuts the furnace down as designed. Before leaving, we explain filter changes and thermostat settings and review your warranty coverage.
