How Long Does Heat Pump Installation Take?

Replacing an existing heat pump typically takes one full day. Installations that add ductwork, upgrade electrical service, or convert from a separate furnace and AC can take longer. Your technician provides a timeline along with the upfront project price before installation is scheduled.

Do Heat Pumps Work Well in Kansas City Winters?

Heat pumps work well through most Kansas City winters, and modern cold-climate models keep producing heat at temperatures well below freezing. On the coldest nights, many systems rely on electric auxiliary heat strips or a gas furnace as backup to maintain comfort. The right model and backup heat source depend on your home's size, insulation, and fuel options.

When Should I Replace My Heat Pump?

A heat pump should usually be replaced when it is more than 10 to 15 years old, needs frequent repairs, or relies on R-22 refrigerant. Constant use of auxiliary heat, uneven comfort, and climbing electric bills are other signs that an upgrade may save money. Aire Serv of Kansas City North can price repair and replacement upfront so you can compare.

Is a Heat Pump or Furnace Better for My Home?

A heat pump is often the better choice for homes that want efficient heating and cooling from one system, while a gas furnace delivers stronger heat during extended deep freezes. Some homeowners pair a heat pump with a furnace so each runs when it is most efficient. The best option depends on your utility rates, existing ductwork, and comfort priorities.

Why Kansas City Homeowners Choose Us for Heat Pump Installation

Practical advantages that come with every heat pump replacement project.

Every heat pump installation from Aire Serv of Kansas City North includes a warranty. Since a heat pump runs through both Kansas City summers and winters, it logs more hours each year than a cooling-only system, which makes installation warranty coverage especially valuable. Ask for the warranty terms with your estimate so you can compare options with complete information.
Heat pump replacement pricing is set upfront by the job, not the hour, so your quote covers the full installation. Estimates are available over the phone or in person, and same-day service applies to all jobs. If you are weighing repair against replacement, you can see both prices side by side, and the $99 diagnostic fee is waived if you approve a repair instead.
Financing is available on new heat pump systems, letting you upgrade from aging equipment without waiting for a complete failure. Military members, first responders, and teachers receive 10% off. Fully insured technicians complete each installation, home visits are available 7 days a week, and calls are answered 24/7.

How We Install Your New Heat Pump

A heat pump installation with Aire Serv of Kansas City North begins with an in-home assessment of your square footage, insulation, ductwork, and electrical service to determine the right system capacity. Your technician also reviews backup heat options for the coldest Kansas City nights. After you approve the upfront price, the old equipment is removed, the new outdoor unit is set on a level pad, and the matching indoor air handler or coil is installed and connected to refrigerant lines, electrical, and the condensate drain. The system is charged and tested in heating, cooling, and defrost modes to confirm correct operation. Before the visit ends, you get a walkthrough of thermostat settings, filter changes, and your warranty.
