How Much Does Heat Pump Installation Cost?

Heat pump installation cost depends on the system size, efficiency rating, whether existing ductwork can be reused, and whether you add backup heat. You'll get a firm, by-the-job price from Aire Serv of Lakewood-Avon at your in-person estimate, or a rough number online by answering a few questions on our website. Financing is available, and qualifying customers receive 10% off.

Do Heat Pumps Work in Northeast Ohio Winters?

Modern heat pumps can heat homes through Northeast Ohio winters, and cold-climate models are designed to keep producing heat at temperatures well below freezing. As outdoor temperatures drop, a heat pump becomes less efficient, so many Ohio homes pair it with backup electric heat or a gas furnace. Your technician can recommend a setup based on your home and heating costs.

What Is a Dual-Fuel Heat Pump System?

A dual-fuel system pairs an electric heat pump with a gas furnace, using the heat pump for cooling and mild-weather heating and switching to the furnace on the coldest days. This setup lets your home use the more efficient heat source as outdoor temperatures change. It's a common choice in Northeast Ohio homes that already have natural gas service.

How Long Does a Heat Pump Last?

Most heat pumps last about 10 to 15 years, and regular maintenance helps them reach the longer end of that range. Since a heat pump works through every season, it typically logs more hours than a central air conditioner. Scheduling a tune-up twice a year helps catch wear before it leads to a breakdown.

Should I Replace My Furnace and AC With a Heat Pump?

Replacing a furnace and air conditioner with a heat pump can make sense when your AC is near the end of its life, you want lower cooling costs, or you'd like one system that handles most of your heating and cooling. Homes with a newer gas furnace may do better with a dual-fuel setup that keeps the furnace for the coldest days. An in-person estimate helps you compare both options.

Why Choose Aire Serv for Heat Pump Installation in Avon

Honest sizing advice, flexible payment, and coverage beyond installation day.

Heat pump estimates from Aire Serv of Lakewood-Avon are done in person whenever possible, giving the technician a chance to measure heat loss and heat gain and check your ductwork and electrical panel. A heat pump has to be sized for Northeast Ohio winters, not just summer cooling, and that's hard to judge without seeing the home. Prefer a starting point first? Answer a few quick questions on our website for an approximate estimate, or ask about a limited phone estimate. In Avon, where many homes are relatively new, existing ductwork can often be reused.
Financing is available for heat pump installation, so switching from an older air conditioner and furnace setup doesn't require paying the full cost at once. A heat pump can take over your cooling and handle much of your heating too, and financing lets you spread that investment out over time. Teachers, seniors, veterans, military members, and first responders save 10% on any service as well. Your technician can review financing options during your estimate.
Each heat pump Aire Serv of Lakewood-Avon installs carries a warranty on the company's own workmanship, with optional extended coverage if you want more. The Neighborly Done Right Promise® backs the job too. Because a heat pump runs in summer and winter, installation quality affects your comfort in every season, so coverage on the work itself matters more than it does for equipment you only use a few months a year.

How We Install Heat Pumps in Avon Homes

Aire Serv of Lakewood-Avon technicians begin a heat pump installation by recovering the refrigerant from your old outdoor unit and removing it. The technician sets the new heat pump on a level pad, raised where needed so snow and defrost water can drain away from the coil. Inside, the air handler or coil goes in, and the line set is connected, pressure-tested, and pulled into a deep vacuum before refrigerant is added. Wiring, the condensate drain, and a compatible thermostat come next. If your home keeps a gas furnace for backup heat, the system is set up to switch between the two. Finally, the technician tests heating, cooling, and defrost, checks airflow and refrigerant charge, and shows you how to use the thermostat in your Avon home.
